I incubated 6 Khaki Campbell eggs, 4 hatched. Look at the pic. 2 of the 4 have crests. I am bewildered. I’ve been waiting almost three weeks for the crests to disappear, because I thought maybe it was due to a soft spot, a fontanelle, like with humans.
All I know is that I bought some Khaki ducklings last year from an individual. None were crested. I chose to keep the dark drake, because he looked interesting and I thought I’d like to incubate Dark Campbells. Well, the new ducklings from that drake and the best layer are khaki colored, not dark and two of the four have those cute afros.
It’s a skull deformity?? It’s an open skull?? It’s not going to close?
