This is the young drake at 18 weeks. As an aside, his mother just finished her first egg-laying year and I recorded 346 eggs from her!!! So spectacular.
I don’t consider this super finished, but I intend to paint that drake again soon.
I started with fast-drying paint with matte medium and transitioned.
The Golden Open has a slightly greasy feel under the brush, like a soft walnut oil paint. I don’t know yet whether I prefer the Open paints or mixing the Open gel into quick-drying paints. Ha, ha, the Open gel mixes well into egg tempera. I just had to try that. I haven’t experimented with it enough, though.
I was able to stroke on some colored pencil. It never got too glossy for that.
Good deal!
