Will Rogers

I’m playing with Will Rogers now. Having fun with oil on MDF board. This is a large 16 x 22 inch. I’m not really liking the big size just for play.

I practiced a horse, using the ideal Quarter Horse that was painted by Orren Mixer. The American Quarter Horse Association commissioned it. Six other breed associations also commissioned him to paint their ideal horse breed! Ideal, as in the perfect conformation for that breed. This is oil over acrylic.

Mark Twain

This is oil on board and it is supposed to be Mark Twain. The photo is too dark – seriously, the painting is not that dark. I was still experimenting with diox purple. There’s the earth red from Rublev, some orange…no more than a trace of anything else.

Dirty painting

This is quick and dirty. I was very relaxed!

Textured face

I needed practice with tilted heads, so I chose another image from Pexels to look at while I drew. I added a great texture called Texture Melt and brushed on some colors. I also experimented with Color Balance.
