Negative spaces

This is what I’m working on. I noticed the nicest triangles, rectangles, and even a trapezoid while I was looking at my rain garden. (It absorbs rainwater runoff from the road.)

I painted the background with egg tempera, using yolk from a duck. I used it like a watercolor wash and left the brushstrokes The leaves and flowers are almost all colored pencil. There is one painted leaf at the top.

How nice it is to combine paint with color pencils!!! They both have a job to do.

A diamond

It’s all about the shapes in the negative spaces, and I see some more I want to emphasize.
